This would be Chelsey and Corey’s order if they were to go out for pizza. Chelsey and Corey share it doesn’t end with pizza orders on how opposite they are. They are honest that there are differences in their marriage, in some ways they are the total opposite. Yet God called them to marriage and they’ve spent the last five years learning more about the unconditional love of the Father, loving when it’s hard, how to let the past die to make room for newness in their future together.

the tougher seasons

Chelsey shares, “This season has been both beautiful and challenging in the same breath, old hurts resurfacing and old things that God wasn’t going to allow to be in the dark anymore. It’s been like a death and resurrection of our marriage. I’d say 2019 more than ever we both saw the things in ourselves that HAVE TO DIE in order for our marriage to glorify God.

“I can’t keep letting my past get in the way of where God is taking our marriage” — Chelsey

“The sooner you can get to talking to one another and bringing things to light the sooner you can get to move past those things.  Until then, it keeps you from being one”. — Corey

Corey agrees with Chelsey but also shares he sees part of this completely different. “My past is my past. I leave it in the past, I leave her past there too.”

fighting for and rediscovering the fun

Chelsey shares, “Honestly, I think I went into marriage pretty cynical from an earthly perspective. Marriage wasn’t something I ever expected to be easy and always fun. I’ve always looked at it as a calling God placed on our lives. We’re either called to it or we’re not. And the other reason for each of those it because it will draw us closer to Christ. While these things are GOOD and TRUE..I think it also has kept in a place of not knowing how to have the fun God wants for me within my marriage. I didn’t think the fun would take so much work.”

leaving the old behind, looking forward, Godward

Going into 2020, “bringing up the past has to die” says Chelsey. Their aim is to BE FRIENDS and HAVE FUN. “Friends have fun together so that’s what I’m praying for. If it means buying AFV so we have to watch it each night together to laugh, I’m in!” — Chelsey
