Dustin and Rebecca George: Pursuing the Call God Places on Our Lives, A Pastor and Pastor’s Wife’s Perspective

Dustin and Rebecca live in Brookhaven, Mississippi, with their one pup and have quite the unique perspective as Dustin is the lead pastor of Easthaven Baptist Church making Rebecca “first lady” of their church.
Episode 26 gives us an inside look into how pastors and their families navigate full-time ministry and we hear the story of how Dustin and Rebecca met and how God took two very independent individuals (who might I add have a 19 year age difference) and called them to marriage to each other.

Dustin shares how the call to being a pastor wasn’t always clearly defined, it was more about taking small steps of faith and as he did so the Lord revealed more and more of His plan for his life. Rebecca had to navigate what being a pastor’s wife looked like for her as she had a very specific call as a writer and is passionate about cheering others on in the pursuit of making God known through her unique calling hosting a podcast called Do The Thing Movement.

She’s also a gifted writer and best-selling author, wife, homeschool mama, host of The Verity Podcast titled but importantly a disciple of Christ. Her latest book is entitled Stop Calling Me Beautiful: Finding Soul-Deep Strength in a Skin-Deep World. Josh is the COO/CFO of all things ministry related. They take turns homeschooling their young kids, running home business on small farm in Michigan.

Bonny’s ministry, Live Brighter, is the fruit of her life passion for nurturing, empowering, and inspiring men and women to act bravely, love deeply, and live brightly.

Karl is a software project manager and is the facilitator of Bonny’s dreams and is happy doing so. Karl encourages the young adults who come into their home (who’ve come over the years for homegroup and bible study) that “You can serve the Lord with your abilities no matter what they are, it’s not only pulpit ministries that matter. You can serve Him behind the scenes.”

Jenn and Shawn Marriage Story - When God Moves Us Into Unknown, New Territory

Married 7 years, Jenn and Shawn Stocking share how God redeemed their lives and what He's done in their marriage. They also have three beautiful children! This is a fun episode as Shawn and Jenn record from their home just the two of them during this quarantine period. We decided to not let the pandemic stop us. Also, a fun game you can play while listening is counting how many times we say “quarantine”.

Jenn was raised in a “Christian” home but it wasn’t being fully lived it out. Drugs and alcohol were present and she eventually found herself in a really dark place. Hear Jenn found redemption in Jesus and was saved from that dark place she had been in.

Shawn admits he used to fall asleep in the chair on Sundays at church. He was raised in the “fundamentals of Christ” but not the Word of God. Shawn’s life took a turn away from God when his aunt passed away. He turned away from God completely and became an atheist/agnostic. Chelsey and Corey are honest that there are differences in their marriage, in some ways they are the total opposites yet at the same time complementary. God handpicked the two of them to be together. They open about the tougher seasons they’ve walked through even more recently together, and that they’re still working through.
Chelsey also shares bringing up the past has to die. There is just no room for it anymore. A tree can’t bear new fruit if you don’t cut away the dead.
